Out-of-the-Box Training

Your Improv 2 Improve license includes access to a secure membership area of the website. Training videos for each game, game play instructions, a scope and sequence, associated articles and information, and more support your SEL efforts. The basics of KKIT training are woven through those materials. A deeper understanding of how to take the program beyond a valuable brain break and classroom management tool is available through our next-level KKIT training, in-person or Zoom training.

KKIT Coach Training

On their own, Improv to Improve games provide a great brain break during transition times, which helps with class management. We know how important that is!

BUT it’s also important to know that the meat of the SEL program of Improv to Improve is in the KKIT. If SEL is your goal, you need KKIT.

KKITisms are ways to coach during the games to elicit the desired SEL behavior from participating students. Our trainers teach using KKITisms so that the teachers in the training get to FEEL their effects themselves, to better understand their impact.

Our KKIT training will instill in teachers the confidence and knowledge necessary to successfully implement the program at every grade level from pre‑K on up.

The scope and sequence of KKIT provides a gentle guide for teachers to use as they see fit.

KKIT Works for Everyone in Your School or District

KKIT guides the development of SEL competencies through the Improv to Improve games, so the KKIT Coach can have fun playing with their class. The training is ideal for individuals and is perfect for cohorts, departments, schools and even entire school districts. Convince your school or district to invest in KKIT and we’ll refund the cost of your individual program!

About KKIT

The Kathleen Kenny Instructional Technique (KKIT) is the instructional model for Improv to Improve. KKIT philosophy is simple: you are enough. What you bring to the game and the world is enough. KKIT Coaches and practitioners focus on what is wonderful while gently coaching into teachable moments.

KKIT Coaches emphasize getting better, not mastery, as the goal. KKIT Coaches treat kids like the kids they are, and make time for them to play and explore and have fun. Our training will enable your staff to do the same.

The long term goal is for children to find joy in learning at school. Joy in learning leads to greater long term learning gains. Improv to Improve gives the teacher a way to incorporate fun and social emotional growth into the small bits of time between classes. These tiny brain breaks, when combined over the course of a day, a week, a year provide children the practice necessary to master the social skills and emotional competencies to be their most successful selves.
